Residential buildings in Bottmingen – where metal meets living aesthetics

back to Object of the month

A harmonious blend of function and design
Completed in 2024, this residential ensemble comprises four units: a semi-detached house and two single-family homes. The buildings are characterised by a restrained, cubic architectural language. Great emphasis was placed on clean lines and a minimalist colour palette to create a modern yet homely atmosphere. The chosen façade and roof profile from Montana plays a key role in the aesthetic appeal – it highlights the architectural precision while adding elegance and lightness to the structures.

SWISS PANEL® SP 18/76 – The corrugated profile that convinces
Around 1,200 m² of the trusted SWISS PANEL® SP 18/76 in RAL 9016 (traffic white) were used for the cladding. The clearly structured profiling supports the horizontal orientation of the façades and ensures a uniform appearance. In addition to its design value, the system also provides functional benefits: reliable weather protection, durability, and versatile use for both walls and roofs.

A subtle highlight of the project is the selective use of perforated SWISS PANEL® SP 18/76 profiles with pattern 5/8. These areas add visual interest and allow for captivating light and shadow effects that change throughout the day – a refined yet effective architectural feature.

Collaboration with experienced partners
The project was developed and designed by Complimmo AG of Basel in close cooperation with KOHLERSTRAUMANN Architekten AG, also based in Basel. The installation and sheet metal work were carried out by Emil Handschin AG from Therwil. Together with Montana Building Systems Ltd., they created a coherent and convincing result – technically, functionally, and aesthetically.

Precision, design, and quality of living
The Bottmingen project clearly demonstrates the versatility of SWISS PANEL® profiles – whether as a continuous design element for roof and wall or as a perforated feature. The combination of functionality, precision, and modern aesthetics makes this project a worthy "Object of the Month" for August.
